federal minimum wage

why do we even have such a thing? with the wild swings in cost of living across this country it simply makes no sense.

what does make sense is to have a baseline minimum wage with a multiplier based on local cost of living. pick the largest 100 cities by population, adjust them every decade to account for people moving. this way if you live in the most expensive areas, your minimum wage might be 2.8x the baseline. and if you live in a poorer area of the country, your minimum wage might be .78x the baseline wage.

then adjust the baseline/multipliers every year just like social security.

helping eliminate the concussion problem in the NFL

it’s simple really, instead of trying to build a safe helmet (which will never happen) just eliminate helmets altogether. rugby has about 1/3 the concussions that football has.

problem is that would “soften” the game and therefore cost money. put differently, this means that the owners value money over the long-term health of their players.

is anyone surprised?
